Passion for today’s Digital Lifestyle

The more I read and live with new digital media, the more I realize there are two distinct groups, those “that get it” and those “that don’t get it”.

For me, today the common thread I notice in the new conversation that we live, is that people “that get it” have passion for the positives in this new lifestyle opportunity and the new work style / network that it offers.

I believe in passion about life and living it, overflows into our passion in what business we do and how we do it.

You can understand a lot about a persons’s character and passion, from the inspirational quotes he chooses e.g. this quote by Seth Godin

“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”

Here are some other quotes on marketing, advertising and social media, by people “who get it” and caught my eye:

“On the average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.” David Ogilvy

“If you have more money than brains you should focus on outbound marketing. If you have more brains than money, you should focus on inbound marketing.” Guy Kawasaki

“The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous.” Peter Drucker

“Don’t find customers for your products, find products for your customers.” Seth Godin

“Social marketing eliminates the middlemen, providing brands the unique opportunity to have a direct relationship with their customers”. Bryan Weiner

“To objectively see what consumers see is not easy.” Tim Ambler

“I used to believe that a good product sold itself.” Phil Knight

“Social Media is not just a set of new channels for marketing messages. It’s an opportunity for organizations to align with the marketplace and start delivering on behalf of customers.” Valeria Maltoni

“It’s much easier to double your business by doubling your conversion rate than by doubling your traffic.” Jeff Eisenberg

“Our success is a direct result of knowing how to market a brand and having the right people representing the brand” Greg Norman

“The pursuit of excellence is less profitable than the pursuit of bigness, but it can be more satisfying”. David Ogilvy

“Old-school marketers are used to one-way marketing communication and a sales approach that talks at the customer rather than with the customer. That just doesn’t work anymore”. Newt Barrett

“Social Media, it turns out, isn’t about aggregating audiences so you can yell at them about the junk you want to sell. Social Media, in fact, is a basic human need, revealed digitally online. We want to be connected, to make a difference, to matter, to be missed. We want to belong, and yes, we want to be led” Seth Godin

“Profit in business comes from repeat customers, customers that boast about your project or service, and that bring friends with them”. W. Edwards Deming

“We’re living at a time when attention is the new currency. Those who insert themselves into as many channels as possible look set to capture the most value”. Pete Cashmore

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

… getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. ~ Steve Jobs.

Walter Issacon has written an inspiring book about an amazing person, Steve Jobs.

Though I don’t feel I could have worked or socialized with Steve I recognize and appreciate his marketing genius.

Anyway I listed my thoughts, not in any particular order, from the book, which I believe are relevant for small business entrepreneurs wanting to gain the most out of internet marketing, SEO and social media:

importance of appreciating art / music /design and its everyday relevance to life and business

optimization being a blend of art and science

recognition of innovation / genius may be limited to a few peers

improvement is a continuum / journey (a trip!)

value our intuition over the intellectual conclusion

people don’t know what they would want [Henry Ford: "if I had asked my customers what they wanted they would have said a faster horse”]

leaders / innovators are needed – to lead and challenge the status quo and “negative leadership”

its no longer liberal or conservative, its being constructive or destructive

“A” players work best with “A” players

personal focus in business, like art, becomes self interest / ego /absorbing and can be destructive

cost / price vs value relationship “confused”, when innovation is appreciated

“Think Different” ad, was reminding us that the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

His legacy is transforming seven industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, digital publishing, and retail stores.

His legacy is creating what became the most valuable company on earth, one that stood at the intersection of the humanities and technology, and is the company most likely still to be doing that a generation from now.”

For more inspiration – watch Steve Jobs deliver his commencement speech to the graduates of Stanford University in 2005

“I haven’t failed, I’ve found 10,000 ways that don’t work”. Thomas Edison.

When talking or explaining my perspective of Marketing SEO to various business management especially small or medium size successful business entrepreneurs, at the initial client introduction, I am frequently faced with “glazed eyes” of bewilderment when I talk about Internet Digital Marketing and SEO.

To help explain my views on the concept and workings of SEO and process of Marketing SEO, and how it works to complement the company website in “reaching or contacting new customers” I use the analogy of the SEO Ripple Effect.

One consistent message, reflecting the company’s competitive advantage and positioning, “ripples” out across the marketplace more effectively and more cost efficiently than ever before.

Marketing SEO Ripple Effect

Now, how you capitalize on the “Marketing SEO Ripple Effect” to convert Visitors to Customers, comes down to business marketing & process and proven Marketing SEO advice !
